Julie Anderson Implementation Director, RBHI

Julie Anderson, BSE, LAC has spent the past two decades working to improve the mental health of those living in rural Montana communities. She has built strong and durable relationships with community members, school districts, health care systems, and public health networks across Montana with an enduring focus on community and state suicide prevention efforts. 

Julie’s experience in education and public health is extensive. In 2000, she began work as an adolescent school – treatment liaison and discharge planner for the largest substance use treatment center in eastern Montana. In the next ten years, Julie taught middle school students in eastern Montana while earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Education (minor in Psychology) at Montana State University.  Her work as an educator identified many emotional and behavioral challenges faced by youth and in 2015, she returned to Livingston, her hometown, to manage the local branch of the Tri County Network, which offers crisis intervention, shelter, advocacy, education, and counseling services to those in need. In 2017, she was recruited to direct suicide prevention efforts in the Park County school district where she was able to apply her broad knowledge of teaching and supporting struggling youth. Before joining the RBHI team, Julie was the Director for the Park County Health Department where she led community-wide COVID-19 screening, education, and prevention efforts.  Julie is currently completing her MSW at the Walla Walla University in Billings, Montana.  She is a licensed Montana Educator, a Licensed Addiction Counselor, Certified Equine Therapist (EAGALA), and a certified QPR instructor and ACEs facilitator. She is a member of many local task forces, Vice-Chair of the Park County Mental Health Advisory Council, board member of the LiveWell49 and Resiliency Project, and an active community advocate for mental health
